9:30 AM - 10:00 AM    Swim Lessons with Swim Inclusive - Duo 1: Beginner
We are excited to partner with Swim Inclusive this summer for swim lessons at Island Grove! Swim Inclusive is self-owned and self-run by Faye, whose focus is teaching water safety and a learn to swim program. Swim lessons will run five weeks throughout the summer on Fridays only. Please carefully read through the program descriptions:  Duo 1: Parent and child in the water. Beginners start in Duo 1. “Beginners” include those who have never been in a pool, and those who can self-submerge, but cannot travel 6-8+ feet, underwater, with self propulsion. Ideally, the child should be over 2 months and under age 4yo to begin, but older kids are welcome if they are willing to submerge their face in the water. In this level, the child will learn to self-submerge and self-propel themselves for a distance of 6-8+ ft, to their parent and away from their parent, latch onto safety, and pull themselves out of the water. They will learn how to safely fall and jump from a wall. They will learn breath-holding and the beginnings of independent back-floating and proper exhaling.  Duo 2-3: Parent and child in the water. Ideally, the child should be a minimum of 18 months to enter this level. There is no max age, as long as the parent is willing to get in with the child. To register for this level, the child must be able to swim horizontally, completely submerged for 6-8 feet, to the parent and away from the parent, and pull themselves out of a pool. The child must be able to kick/propel themselves with a submerged, horizontal, forward motion, look at, reach for and latch onto, the adult’s hand, and push up for their own air; they must also be able to swim to safety, latch on, and pull themselves up for air without assistance. In this level, the child will learn the freestyle stroke, along with independent, rollover rescue breathing, independent back floating, traveling on their backs, intro to backstroke, and streamline dives.Drop-off 1: Parents are not in the water. Ratio is up to 5:1. “Beginners” include those who have never been in a pool, and those who can self-submerge, but cannot travel 6-8+ feet, underwater, with self propulsion. Child must be a minimum of 5 years old. This type of class is best suited for a child who is either a) tolerant of goggles or b) not phobic of facial submersion. The child will learn to self-submerge and self-propel, horizontally, while submerged, a minimum distance of 6-8 ft, to an adult and away from the adult, to the dock/wall and pull themselves out without assistance. Well-fitting goggles with 2 head straps are required. Swim caps are strongly suggested, if hair cannot be completely pulled away from the face. Please msg SwimInclusive@gmail com if the child has been allowed to swim with puddle jumpers, life jackets, or any other floatation device in the past. Please message if the child has a phobia of full submersion.  Drop-off 2: Parents are not in the water. To enter this level, the child must be able to swim with self-propulsion, horizontally, completely submerged for 6-8 ft, to and away from the wall, and pull themselves out of a pool without assistance. The child must also be able to look at, reach for, latch onto, an adult’s hands and the wall, and then push/pull up for air independently. In this level, the child will learn the freestyle stroke, including independent rollover breathing, and independent back floating (rescue breaths) without assistance. The child will graduate this level when they have mastered 10-12 ft of underwater, horizontal swimming and rollover breathing, streamline diving into the water without assistance, and fetching at least 1 object from the bottom of the pool, and bring it back to their adult. Drop-off 3: Parents are not in the water. To enter this level, the child has to be able to swim 10-12 feet, roll onto their backs independently and then back float for a minimum of 5 seconds without assistance, then roll back onto their belly, then perform another independent rollover and back float. The child must be able to fetch an object from the bottom of the pool and return it to an adult. In this level, the child will learn proper techniques for all 4 swim strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle.Program Cost: $35 per class / $175 for 5 weeks Early Registration Discount (before May 1st): $32 per class / $160 for 5 weeks

12:00 PM - 12:30 PM    Swim Lessons with Swim Inclusive - Drop Off 3: Proficient
